Cheap Coldfusion 8 hosting?

Can anyone recommend a decent coldfusion 8 hosting service that:

1) allows multiple domains
2) allows multiple MySQL DSNs
3) not more than $15/month?

Too strigent?

Anyone try DailyRazor.com? They have a sweet deal, but I'm worried about their reliability.

todd sharp's Gravatar I would not recommend Daily Razor. They _are_ reliable, but they block a ton of tags/functions. You won't even be able to run BlogCFC on them without major modifications.

Bradley Moore's Gravatar I have been looking into this recently as well. Although, I have not had a lot of time to spend looking =/.

My list is a bit stricter. My list may also remain a dream.
1) Railo( or CF8 ), MySQL( InnoDB engine ), under $100/year
// multiple databases a plus
2) Python
3) sub-domains and mod_rewrite( or equiv )
4) multiple domains

I found http://www.webhost.org/category/ColdFusion yesterday, which lists quite a few hosts, but the site fails to actually review any. I quite like their multiple category search.

Freelance Web Developer's Gravatar I just saw this, though I know nothing of it:

Mark W. Breneman's Gravatar Do you feel adventures? If so, you could do what I did. Get a VPS from www.westhost.com get the "SPECIAL" of the moment package at $10 a month. Then install jetty/Open BlueDragon (http://www.openbluedragon.org/) I have a few php sites running on it and a CF site. The sites are always up when I check them, but they are very low traffic sites.

I would avoid daily razor. Fair hosting, I have a few sites with them, but I have had a few issues like with CFfile being able to write new files to the to the root of the site and the aforementioned blog.cfc not running. All of the dbs are tied to the primary domain. If you remove that domain, all of the DBs get deleted. Granted that is my fault for not knowing that.

Admin's Gravatar @charlie: I saw that but the reviews are old. Was hoping to find more recent reviews and more cf options. Hard to find good (value) cf isps

Damon Gentry's Gravatar I've used VIUX to host my site for a few years now. I've not had any significant issues with them. Their entry level package ($10/month or $112/year) gets you:

2 Domains
Unlimited Data Transfer
2GB Disk Space
100 E-Mail Accounts
2 MySQL Databases
Windows OS
CF 8 Enterprise, PHP 5.2.3, Activer Perl, ActivePython, ASP, .NET 3.5

You can add additional databases (including MSSQL) for additional costs per month.

Mark Ireland's Gravatar I have been trying out www.hostek.com

Richard Davies's Gravatar I've used Daily Razor in the past. They accidentally deleted my account once when moving to a new server. And to top it off, their customer service is poor.

Admin's Gravatar Wow...looks like DailyRazor is a bad option. Thanks for helping me avoid that pit.

Jared Legg's Gravatar I would also say to avoid Daily Razor. I switched to them six months ago. My sites run significantly slower since I switched.

I called them yesterday after I noticed they double billed me, and the customer service sounded like it was some guy in his garage.

So I am definitely watching this thread to find a new host. Thanks.

Bradley Moore's Gravatar @Mark and Damon

Both of those look pretty sweet.

I had pretty much ruled out a vps due to my budget constraints, but that looks like a good deal. The West Host holiday special plan seems too good to be true. =D

Admin's Gravatar I've stumbled upon http://www.efree2net.com. They had a good deal $20/yr for a simple site (no multiple domains). I've signed up for one year for one domain name. Testing them out to see what their uptime/reliability/customer svce. is like.

So far they've fixed some problems (<cflayout> wasn't working for some reason, but they fixed it).

The only knock I have with them so far (and it's been less than a week), is that Scheduling Tasks isn't ad hoc. I have to send them my schedule of what url needs to be run. I can't just go in and change the scheduler as if I'm on my own CFADMIN. Not sure if this is commonplace with other hosts, but this would be a minus for anyone needing scheduled tasks.

I will report back more findings as the subscription progresses.

Paul Kukiel's Gravatar http://www.hostingatoz.com is cheap. Good enough for a small website. I know a few people who have sites there.

Munna's Gravatar Another votes for http://www.hostingatoz.com . I have about 12 personal and friends sites hosted with them for years. Quite happy with the services.
