Arrgh! How do I loathe thee Crapple...

I had a 3rd Gen iPod 20gb that recently took a turn for the worst. Yeah we had a good run there little buddy, but it's time to move on. Your smaller sibling the 4th Gen Nano will be keeping me company from now on on the subway, buses, and car.

But alas! What is this? I cannot charge you in my car! I connect you to my adapter and you tell me, "This device cannot be charged with this accessory", or something to this effect. This cannot be! I a very confused!

To the Apple support forums I go. ::read...read...read:: AH HA!! Apple Discussion Link

It would seem that your creator Apple (from here on out known as crapple) has dumped support for Firewire charging in the 4th Gen Nano, iPod classic (120 GB) and iPod touch (2nd generation).

ARRRGGHH!! I can just imagine how many people will be a bit put off, that's saying it lightly, when they plop their new 4th gen nano in their 3rd party vendor accessory and see the same message. Yes...ire will be amassed! Clocks? Docking Ports? Car chargers? all of which will need an adapter (this pre-release adapter will suffice for some).

And don't get me started with iTunes 8.0. I have a 2.4ghz P4 PC that is rendered to a 286 when loading, transferring music, downloading album art, and anything else for that matter. Once I shut down iTunes, my PC is back to normal.

I do think I will have to offload this nano to someone who will not look at it in disgust everytime I want to change songs.

Hmm...alternatives.... Zune? Archos? Creative Labs? Sure they won't have as many accessories and love that the sheeple give to crapple, but hey, at least I'll have a device that will cost less for comparable hardware, and have wi-fi, bluetooth, swapable batteries, and gasp...FM RADIO!!

It feels good to regain my individuality.

BestBuy: your next favorite green friend

Over at Unplggd.com, they've reported that Best Buy will take your eWaste off your hands at 2 items per person per day. And best of all, free of charge (if you live in Baltimore, San Francisco, and Minnesota). And we all love free right?

I'm going to "free" my Netgear router. God awful POS from hell. Hope it burns from whence it came.

Confused no more.. Verizon Curve it is!

I couldn't wait any longer. I had to get rid of my old style phone. Text messaging on a regular phone is so 90's :) I went ahead and renewed my contract with VZW for 2 years and a new Blackberry Curve 8330.

Wow! What have I been missing all this time? Email in my hands whenever whereever (vzw's network is the best). I can chat with BeeJive's JiveTalk on all chat networks.

I can surf with Opera Mini 4.1. Way better than the built in BB Browser.

I've even given the Curve an iPhone UI

But since the addiction has already started (can you say crackberry?), I am already looking forward to the Blackberry Bold (aka the Blackberry 9000). Yeah, it'll be released this summer on AT&T and if it's all that it's hyped to be, then I'm putting the Curve on eBay to recoup my termination fee :)

Not to be left out of my new handset fetish, I will also be keeping an eye out for the iPhone 2.0. I'm still not sure I can go back to the virtual keyboard after having a fully functional real keyboard.

Mental note: Don't Piss Off the Elderly

94 year old man murders his landlord, sequesters himself, then has to be taken into custody by SWAT (after being tazered). What's he got to lose? I mean really..how long will he last in jail? GO GRANDPA!!

Season 7 of 24....not happening this year?? ack!

Damn those striking writers! Where am I going to get my 24 "fix"?
TV Guide Entry of 24 Season 7

"Even if the strike ends tomorrow, the earliest the show could get back on the air is this summer -- and there's no way in hell Fox is dumping 24 onto the summer season. That leaves the network with several options, none of them ideal. One solution is to just kick off Season 7 next January, but by then Jack will have been in hiding for nearly two years."

Eli and not Peyton? OMG

Whod'a thunk it!? That the worser (yes i know it's not a word) brother is going further in the playoffs than the superstar brother? What's this world coming to?! I'm a Giants fan and I just have to say I never thought they'd get this far. But, I think their road to the Super Bowl ends in Lambeau Field. Favre is just too good for Manning (Eli that is).

I remember an SNL skit with Peyton hosting the show. Where Peyton was a Sportscaster talking about Office Pools. And one of the topics was, "Peyton Manning is good but crumbles when it comes to tough games and playoffs". I'm glad he was a good sport about the topic, but I have to ask the old adage, "Does art imitate life or vice versa?" hehe

Hilary..The Nutcracker...

Available from Amazon for $22. (Yeah I didn't think it was real either).

Garmin Nuvi 650W

I picked one up at Costco.com last week as a birthday gift to myself (yay!). How could I not? It was $150 off for a total of $300.

Wow! I love this thing. I drive 6 year old car w/o navigation. The best part is that it speaks the street names!! "Turn right at Main Street in 200 feet." I remember the older ones my friends had and it would just say, "Turn right in 200 feet". This is way better.

My only gripe is that I live in California and the new law says, "Nothing mounted on the windshield". So I have to dashmount it with velcro. I'm in the hunt for an air vent mount. I found a couple on eBay but $30+ for a piece of plastic? Ouch.

Verizon Data Plan = $$$$$

Is it me or is Verizon's Voice/Data plan just...ridiculously expensive?

450 talk minutes + unlimited email = $79.99
450 talk minutes + unlimited email + unlimited messaging = $99.99

So if I wanted a SmartPhone or a BBerry from Verizon, those are the minimum monthly's I'm looking at.

In contrast, AT&T's iPhone (which I have and hate to death), is only $59.99/month for unlimited data (email, chat, etc) and 400min voice.

+$20/mo for a BBerry on Verizon..sigh..Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet. The new BBerry Pearl 8130 from VZ is looking nice. So is the LG VX10000 "Voyager".
